06 FISHERMAN’S BEND OR ANCHOR
BEND
This is very similar in formation to the Round Turn and Two Half Hitches, but is
somewhat more secure. As can be seen, the working end of the line passes under
the Round Turn on the anchor ring so that it is locked under load. The Half
Hitches are then put on in the same way as for the Round Turn and Two Half
Hitches. Finally the rope’s end, for complete security, can either be seized to the
standing part as in the photograph or linked to it with a Bowline.
