• Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC)
The ready mixed concrete industry supplies an essential product for transportation projects, commercial and residential buildings, and other construction needs. Concrete is the world’s most utilized construction material because of its sustainability, safety and resilience.
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) estimates there
are about 6,800 nationwide ready mixed concrete production plants and about 70,000 ready mixed concrete mixer trucks that deliver it to the point of placement.
In 2022, Pennsylvania produced 10.3 million cubic yards of ready mixed concrete, ranking the state 10th in the nation on production, according to NRMCA.
• Cement
USGS indicates shipments of Portland and blended cement increased by an estimated 4.9% in 2019. Ninety-six plants in 34 states and two plants in Puerto Rico produced cement. In 2019, sales of cement were valued at $12.5 billion. Texas, California, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Michigan and Pennsylvania were (in descending order
of production) the seven leading cement- producing states and accounted for 60% of U.S. production.
