2018 has been a year of celebration for the detachment
with recognition of individual success and the
potential of new life.
Recognition and Promotion
Corporal Tracy Millard from our Gloucester detachment was
recognised with a Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate for over 20
years reserve service including an operational tour of Iraq.
Private Stacey Richards from our Bristol detachment was
selected as best Human Resources Specialist, completed her
Services Initial Personnel Administration Course workbook
and completed the year with promotion to Lance Corporal
whilst on our Overseas Training Exercise in Cyprus. Staff
Sergeant Mark Unsworth of Exeter was promoted to
Warrant Officer Class 2 and appointed as a Visiting Warrant
Officer for 160 (Wales) Brigade. Corporal Rachel Williams
of Truro was promoted Sergeant and appointed Battalion
Chief Clerk Reserve and I was presented with a Rifles
Commendation at the Bi-annual Regimental Awards where
the guest of Honour was His Royal Highness Prince Harry.
And finally Captain Jason Mantle successfully applied
for the position of Regimental Administrative Officer
4th Battalion Mercian Regiment and is now Major Jason
Mantle. Congratulations to all on these richly deserved
accomplishments.

Sporting and Adventurous Training receives his
commendation
from His Royal
Reserves are able to take part in sport and adventurous
training and be paid for it. Privates Vicky Wright and Highness
Prince Harry
Stacey Richards have taken full advantage of the fantastic
opportunities available qualifying as Ski Mountaineers in
France and Vicky Wright winning various trophies with the
Army Reserve Football team.
Training
Training has continued with attachments to our partners
in pairing, 1st Battalion Rifles for Privates Vicky Wright and
Joe Roberts, an attachment to Headquarters British Forces
Gibraltar for Sergeant Rachel Williams and an Overseas
Training Exercise in Cyprus for Sergeant Dex Coyle and
Private Stacey Richards. Meanwhile we are very pleased
to welcome our newest arrival Private Stacey Foster
from Paignton who completed her basic training and
now awaits the delights of the Services Initial Personnel
Administration Course at Worthy Down.
New Arrivals
The year has been especially pleasing as we welcomed
three new arrivals from the Maternity Wing of 6th Battalion
Rifles; Corporal Carly Mainwaring celebrated her second
child in a year in the form of baby Sophie, Private Gemma Tracy Millard
receiving the
