AP3456 has been in existence, in one form
or another, since the formation of the Royal
Air Force in 1918 and has evolved to be-
come a major aviation reference work. It is
used by UK and Overseas Military Forces
as the basis for flying trg course handouts
and specialist notes.

Its focus is aimed at QFIs and FL, particularly those studying
for instrument ratings or instructor categorization. AP3456 is
available in Adobe pdf format on the Defence Intranet and on
the Internet via the Defence Learning Environment. Over the
past year AP3456 has been updated in content and delivery
method, further enhancing its availability and reader-
ship. Overseas contracts have been re-issued and agree-
ments made to allow the contents of AP3456 to be quoted in
international flying manuals and university publications.
