Down Memory Lane
Little as a kid was I, when I joined this school
Everything was so strange and not so cool!
I was scared at first
I thought my heart would burst!
Day by day, I tried to progress
Step by step I tried to impress
As time passed by, it became my second home, Comfort, love and care is what I found in this educational zone
This school started off with 3 teachers and 27 students
Look at how it grew into a branch with more than 10000 students!
Proud I am, it has completed 50 years
And celebrated its Golden Jubilee with joy and tears!
Today being its student I feel contented
As my circle of knowledge has extended
With this dignity, I’ll try to follow each rule
To uphold the values of GEMS Our Own English High School!

Admiring the clock, wishing to stop
For Newton’s law to enter me one day
Neurons forget their directions depressed as Google Map seems helpless
Desiring to become Siri
when the question paper says do as directed
Agitated by nightmares
where I as Newton
had apple pulling me to the black hole declaring black hole with gravity hence proved.
Determined to ace the exam,
my brain is the world’s best scanner memory deeper than Mariana Trench.

Your clothes, your rules
Fashion may seem frivolous at times, but does your choice of clothing reflect your attitude or the person you really are?
Marilyn Monroe once quoted, “It is better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
Throughout the ages, clothing has been an important part of our society and culture. As the human world develops, so does the practice of styling clothes.
What colourful and imaginative array of designs have evolved over the years!
Even though it is sometimes believed that fashion is harsh with its unrealistic expectations, it is the ultimate outward expression of our personality. Fashion showcases the individual’s personality. When we dare to take fashion risks, people sit up and take notice. From animal prints to oversized coats to the bold, classic, boho, funky, vintage or floral appliques– there is a dress out there for every individual to grace an occasion, an event or just another day in your life with the style that suits you the best. As residents of the UAE we are a lucky lot, spoilt for choice as far as making our fashion choices are concerned.
For a teen like me, an evening of fun would be hitting the mall, pulling clothes off the hanger and trying them on, until I have made the perfect choice. For me, fashion is about uniqueness and not adhering to what is considered ‘latest’ or ‘trendy’. Fashion has the potential to bring different people together to celebrate their individuality. The best way to enjoy fashion trends is to wear your confidence, put on your best smile and be yourself; for it is not your dress alone that makes an impact.
From self-obsessed teens to fashion maniacs - everyone wants to look their best and keep up with the changing fashion trends. It is important to retain the decorum in an event or in a professional setting by dressing according to the occasion, or by adhering to the prescribed dress code. When fashion becomes an obsession, it is a cause of concern. Do not compromise your dignity. The joy of dressing is an art but mind you, elegance is the only fashion statement that never goes out of fashion!
