OUR OWN'S NIGHTINGALE
Beulah Ruth Pinto of 11J was chosen among many to be the lead singer of the collective performance of the community and the public, ‘Lean on Me’ at the UAE Peace Gathering on the occasion of the UAE visit of His Holiness Pope Francis. She is also the proud recipient of the 'Best of the Best 2018' contest for the Best Child Singer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). GEMS Education named Beulah Ruth Pinto as UAE’s ‘Best Young Singer’ in the Senior Category. She also won the title, UAE’s 2nd Most Talented Kid in the competition – Burjuman’s Rising Stars – hosted by Burjuman Center.
INTER-SCHOOL CHORAL ELOCUTION COMPETITION
The Middle School students of GEMS Our Own secured the Runners –up position in The Inter- School Choral Elocution Competition held in GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah on November 15, 2018. About 37 students across Grades 6, 7 and 8 gave a powerful rendition of a medley of Nabati Poems titled ‘An Ode to Determination’, from the quill of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum. It was a nostalgic tribute to the journey of the Union to its glory. Precise coordination and exquisite modulation captivated the audience.
MILLENNIUM MELODIES
In Millennium Melodies 2019, Inter-School Music Festival hosted by The Millennium School, Dubai, our school emerged as Runners-up. Our 30 participants mesmerized the audience with their rendition of classic Cliff Richards and Boney M numbers.
INTER-SCHOOL KGS MUSIC FESTIVAL
It was a moment of pride watching the talented singers of Grade 4 emerging winners in both Group and Solo Singing and bringing back the Overall Trophy for the third consecutive year at the Inter-School KGS Music Festival. The melodious choir sang to the tune of 'Up, Up and Away' and Sarah of Grade 4X enthralled the audience with a soul stirring rendition of "I'll be there."
CHEVRON READERS' CUP
Three teams of GEMS Our Own English High School consisting of 12 students from Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 qualified for the final round of Emirates Litfest Chevron Readers’ Cup 2019. The proud winners of this competition were Adeeba Abdul Aziz (5I), Liz Ajeeth (5D), Trisha Banerjee (6G) and Elvita Poulose (6D).
