MY SCHOOL IN ITS PLATINUM JUBILEE - WHAT WE THINK
                     G
Our school has flourished and thrived in the past 50 years, and personally as
a student, I am quite proud of that. In the 25 years to come, I expect our school
to achieve and develop more than it already has. And though I have many ideas, my
most prominent notion of what I expect to see is that the school adapts to the
times, and evolves itself to integrate its futuristic surroundings . In respect to that,
I expect that our school would encourage students to use technology relevant to their present as well as their future like replacing books with tablets and computerizing classrooms. I also visualize the school having more flexible curriculums, including subjects that are expected to become more prominent like Artificial Intelligence (AI) which our school is already encouraging students to explore.
GEMS has become a landmark in the UAE for its modernized ideas and technology. I am certain it will continue marking its place in history in the coming 25 years as well.
Aparna Santhoshkumar - 7Q
When I was asked to write an article on my vision for the OOD Platinum jubilee,
I will admit, I was deep in dilemma on how to capture the prodigious dynamism
of our ambitious school. The amount of progress this marvellous institution has
undertaken in the past 50 years is truly incredulous! I envision, however, that
in another 25 years, the school’s KHDA markings shall have gone off the charts.
It would have also created more opportunities to students of determination to prove their multifarious talents. The school will be run on solar power and we would have also ventured into other alternate energy sources! With our continuously growing family of highly trained and supportive teachers, passionate and enthusiastic students and welcoming staff, our school shall grow in numbers to have placed its mark as one of the most admired schools in the Middle East.

“Vision is a picture of the future that produces passion.” This quote by Bill Hybels
underlines the significance of being passionate and working towards achieving the goal
we aspire for. As we are proceeding towards the culmination of the Golden jubilee of our
school, we have not only engaged in various celebrations in our school, but also learnt
important lessons. 25 years from now, approaching the platinum jubilee, a vast array of
changes could occur with relation to the educational system. Education provided by our school could become more personalized to cater to the differences in each child, moreover, the concept of ‘digital learning’ would take over. Who knows, we could shift from using modern smart boards to futuristic augmented reality! Rather than manual teaching, teachers may operate though holograms. Paving the way for more success, the platinum jubilee would become a milestone not only for the school, but also for the global society.
Nishat Soomar - 12C
I can visualize my entire classroom fully computerized. We would be learning life
skills rather than writing tests.
We would follow healthy habits right from good food to improved behavior. The
washrooms would no longer be cleaned by human staff and they would be replaced
entirely by robots.
I am hoping to see all the teachers who have taught me to be in school even after 25 years. In a nutshell, my school would be a wonderful place where no one would like to miss school even for a day. I would gladly be a part of its faculty myself!
Looking forward to a glorious Platinum Jubilee of OOD!

Our Own Dubai has completed fifty glorious years in empowering young
minds, but the journey doesn’t end here. I believe that the next 25 years will hold
plenty in store for our school. With an ever-persevering team leading the school,
there is no question that this institution is heading towards a lustrous Platinum
Jubilee.
The school must involve with pressing issues of today, one being environmental conservation. The school shoudl start organizing various programmes to engage the youth in reforming their surroundings for a cleaner future. With STREAM creating ripples in innovation, enforcing it with greater intensity in the school will bring out the natural scientists in our students.
More attention should be given towards creating a safe space for students to enhance their mental strength and growth. Another change I forsee is the school accommodating a variety of nationalities in order to foster the spirit of ethnorelative community.
Our Own Dubai will continually grow and reach new horizons. It will be the model school for ‘Edupreneurship’.

75 years on the go,
OOD is shining in a limitless glow.
Fulfilling its visions and missions,
Each of its students fulfilling their lifelong ambitions!!
Eden Rachael D’Souza - 9E
The Platinum Jubilee is going to be a year filled with opportunities and further
development of skills. This school will no longer be a school. It is going to be like a
child’s dream. It will be like a platform where children will be able to unleash their inner
talent. There will be new leaders but we will never forget the old ones. They will learn,
play and grow up to be the person they wish to become. At the time of the Platinum
Jubilee, I would have already said goodbye to this school yet I will come back from time to time to contribute to the school on a positive note.
