or incapable of other work, might fill compe-
tently. This idea is occasionally though
infrequently, met with to-day, but it is a
passing view. Good health and an alert mind
it is realized more and more are fundamental.
In special types of libraries special qualifi-
cations may be required, but in general, the
man or woman of good physical and mental
health, of good character and possessed of
business capacity, well read, of good educa-
tion and with a sense of scholarship, has the
foundations for the profitable pursuit of
training for librarianship.
