In A Cage
Have you ever seen a little bird?
Longing to fly like an eagle high,
To dance with the rainbow someday.
All the world she knows
– the cage barred.
Alas! She cried with a lonesome sigh.
“O! In a cage all my life I lay.”
Have you ever seen a little bird?
Broken and torn in a corner lie,
Not a word so unkind she’d say.
From cradle to grave she lived unheard.
Awaits her a place seen by no eye.
Departs she with the golden sun ray.
Free my life the cage no more,
Joy my heart the cries no more,
“ In him at last I rest forever.”
