Janeen “Adams” Bailey

I grew up in the Freeport community, attended “country”
school at Freeport and graduated from Chaparral High School--

a LONG time ago! I have lived in Harper County my whole life,
except for around 20 years when I lived in Medicine Lodge and

Amarillo, Texas. Even off the farm, I have been involved and
employed in the agriculture field—from the packing plant to

the feedlot, and from an agricultural based non-profit to
working at the farm store. I love the life through the ups and

                                            downs.
I don’t believe there is a group of people more committed to taking care of the world around
them than farmers and ranchers, and we try to go about it ALL with common sense and

commitment. Right now, most of us are just trying to HOLD ON and get through this tough
economic time. We are all committed to passing on this way of life to the next generation—in

my case, my son, Ryan McCoy, and granddaughter, Rylee, which are the 6 and 7 generation
                                                                                                    th
                                                                                            th
on the farm. Ryan grew up farming, and is now a grain merchandiser for Comark Equity, and
Rylee is 2, and is building her cow herd up in Play Doh.  My brother, Lee, lives a half a mile
away and farms our land, then he and I own cattle together.

My strengths are that I am fair, I try to see both sides to every situation, I work well with
others and have experience in many different venues.
