About Author








          Dr. Ahmed Hammoud migrated to Australia from Lebanon in
        1969. Since his arrival, Dr. Hammoud has been keenly involved
        in the development of the Australian Muslim community in NSW.

        He assisted in the establishment of the Imam Ali mosque in
        Lakemba, al-Zahra mosque and al-Zahra Muslim Association
        in Arncliffe. He was also instrumental in the creation of the
        Islamic Council of NSW. As an active promoter of cross culture
        awareness, he has addressed various government departments,
        community organisations and schools in an effort to develop a
        better understanding of the Australian Muslim community. He

        was the first Australian Muslim and Arab to receive the Australia
        Day Award for literature and to address and present a paper to the
        7th National Conference on Family Law and was honored by the
        Federal Government, Department of Families, Community Services
        and Indigenous Affairs and the Islamic Council of New South Wales
        in appreciation of his pioneering work in the service of Islam and
        Muslim communities in NSW.


          Dr. Hammoud frequently contributes to various Australian and

        international publications and is most renowned for his book
