Boggy Sand Caribbean Kitchen offers a fresh twist on local cuisine
The delightful Boggy Sand Caribbean Kitchen
Laid-back and casual, light and contemporary, Saltwater Grill in Galleria Plaza just off West Bay Road is everybody’s go-to when they want something that’s delicious and fresh, both for lunch and dinner. There’s a brilliant array of wonderful sandwiches, pastas, steaks, chicken and fish dishes to choose from, but their salad selection in particular is really worth the visit and is perfect if you are watching the calories but still want something moreish and filling. Try their take on a classic, the SWG Caesar, filled with romaine, pancetta bacon, shaved parmesan, grilled croutons, and topped with a house Caesar dressing, or there’s the Salmon Nicoise with grilled salmon, potato, local tomato, green beans, black olives, hard-boiled egg, red onion and a herb vinaigrette or The Derby Cobb
- chicken breast, pancetta, local tomato, hard-boiled egg, avocado, bleu cheese and a red wine vinaigrette. The Cayman Mahi is another favourite, with grilled mahi, mixed greens, mango, fennel, pineapple salsa and a house vinaigrette. Don’t miss their Saturday breakfast as well, served up from 10.30am.
The district of West Bay has really come of age in recent years, with some fantastic new developments that have added to the existing culinary delights of the district. Now there’s Boggy Sand Caribbean Kitchen located in the Jacques Scott Plaza next to Foster’s Republix. This is a truly delightful find that serves up authentic locally-inspired dishes with a fresh and vibrant slant to them. Kickstart the day with a health breakfast of their seasonal fruit bowl with coconut yoghurt and granola, or fill up on their signature Boggy Sand breakfast, consisting
of three eggs, plantains, bacon and coco bread. Salads will perk up the taste buds, especially their jerk steak salad with mixed greens, tomato, onions, watermelon, peppers, avocado, cucumber, boiled egg, CAB jerk steak and a pineapple
vinaigrette, but you should also try their burgers, especially
the rasta veggie burger, a vegetable patty, lettuce, tomato, papaya slaw on toasted sesame bun because it’s really the best. Among the many other flavourful mains that they serve, you should try their Caribbean shrimp skewer with grilled shrimp and pineapple, rice and beans and island greens and their whole snapper escovitch which can be fried, steamed or grilled with rice and beans, island greens – delish!
