NEAR PERFECT vISIBILITy
The Cayman Islands are mountain peaks that, fortunately for us, just stick out above the surface of the Caribbean Sea. With no river run off and steep walls close to shore, the visibility is not affected by rain and only very briefly by storms, giving us our famous, crystal clear waters. Visibility rarely drops below 100ft!
MARINE PARKS
The Cayman Islands were one of the
first Caribbean nations to introduce
a marine park system back in 1986
which has protected large areas of
the reef from overfishing and anchor damage. This means healthier corals and increased biodiversity, biomass, size,
and abundance of fish. Currently our Department of Environment is hoping to expand the areas protected so even more precious ocean life will be protected.
CALM SEAS
We are fortunate also in that there is always (hurricanes excepted!) a leeward side of the island to dive on which means you can always find calm seas to dive into, no matter the weather. During the winter months most diving is conducted on the west side of the island and sometimes on the south side, while during the summer months the north and east sides provide calm water also.
DIvERSITy
The Cayman Islands boasts magnificent walls, healthy reefs, exciting wrecks
and great biodiversity which means an amazing variety of dives to keep the most die-hard diver interested! With 365 moored dive sites you can dive a different site every day of the year.
