I had one senior manager who, on the first day, wanted to change the offices around. The next week he started to design a new website himself. I said no to both as there were more important things to do – things we had employed him to do – not for him to be a marketing manager or cost us money making changes to the office. He had a more important role to do and the warm and fuzzy things he was working on weren’t the highest priority projects to work on. By the way, a new website will not solve all your problems. I have seen huge amounts of money spent on new websites, yet the result is the same, reflected in leads and sales. The rule of ‘80% is good enough’ is often applicable until the time is right for change.
Another time, I observed that when we changed digital marketing companies, no one bothered to check their work after the change was made. Our search engine keyword and our company weren’t even on the front google page before I stepped in! In the end, the change was OK, but why make a change without finishing it off and checking things. Finish it off. Don’t allow change for the sake of change.
