Page 2 - Visit the Mitchell County Museum
P. 2
When you visit our museum...
n our main atrium you’ll see, hanging
Ion the wall, a beautiful stained-glass
window which originally came from Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in osage.
The window has been painstakingly re-
stored from pieces which had been displayed
in the previous location of our museum in the
Cedar Valley Seminary building which was at
that time at the corner of Mechanic and Fifth
streets in Osage.
Looking around you’ll see this month’s
exhibits on the various tables and display cases
throughout the atrium.
We try to keep things changing, hoping
you’ll want to come back to see what’s being
featured as time goes on.
he second floor of the museum is our research and geneology library. It contains files on the
Tvarious citizens, businesses, schools, churches, athletic teams and other entitees from ... and even
from before ... the beginning of our Mitchell County Communities.
Here you’ll find a complete set of newspapers dating back to the 1850’s, ...all neatly bound in easy-
to-study format. Users of this room can spread out their subject matter on wide tables. A lot of effort has
been put into cataloging not only these weekly and monthly publications, but also to copying many of
them to digital formats for easy viewing on the screen.
