It’s like you were there...

















































                  glimpse of the past.   Right here ... right in front of you ... as you wander through the first floor
              A of the museum ... is a horse-drawn wagon that carried mail to the early settlers in this county.

              Right next to it, a prairie wagon in which one of the early families made their way to our county to
         claim homestead at a near give-away price.

              These were stalwart and heardy people who packed whatever items they wished to have with them
         into the small wagon.  If the going got rough it was the larger and heavier items that were disposed of first
         so that the journey could continue.























          The ‘Prairie Wagon’ was home to early settlers for the long journey   Museum-created settlers enjoy a bit of music as they take a break
          to Mitchell County Iowa                               from their long trip on a summer’s night.
