Renewables Offer Recruitment Opportunities In The East Coast
Historically, growth in the global economy has meant an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. However, figures released for last year showed the world economy growing by 3.1%
with no corresponding growth in emissions. Why so? The International Energy Agency think they know. They cited the increasing use of renewable sources of energy as the reason for the flattening out of the upward curve of the emissions graph. The energy being produced by geothermal, solar, tidal and wind projects is finally starting to show significant and
measurable effects. Companies investing in renewable power generation are looking for talented individuals to work for them. It’s a growing industry with good prospects for the future, but there are still challenges to be faced in recruitment.
Surrounded, as we are, on all sides by ocean, Britain is in a great place to take advantage of the possibility of offshore wind generation. The North Sea is a relatively shallow sea – its average depth is only 90m and its vast southern swathe with which we are chiefly concerned averages only 25-35 metres. The relative ease of installation (when compared to deeper waters) has seen wind farms springing up along the east coast of our island nation.
There are five wind farms off the coast of East Anglia: Sheringham Shoal, Scroby Sands, Greater
