Earth Day
Earth Day is an event observed annually on April 22. It is a day held to demonstrate and promote environmental awareness and calls for the protection of our planet. Nowadays, Earth Day is celebrated in more than 193 countries each year.
Easter
Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The holiday concludes the “Passion of Christ,” a series of events that begins with Lent and then, ends with Holy Week, which includes Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Fun Facts- Earth Day was first celebrated by two thousand colleges and universities across the United States in 1970.
- It was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson.
- In 1995, President Bill Clinton awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor given to civilians,
to Senator Nelson for being Earth Day founder.
Activities- Planting trees
- Picking up roadside trash
- Conducting various programs for recycling and conservation
- Encouraging to use recyclable containers for snacks and lunches
Fun Facts- Pretzels used to be associated with Easter.
- The act of painting eggs originates from a Ukrainian
tradition.
- The holiday was named after Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon
Goddess.
