Message from Our President

The Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA) is home to over
two hundred home builders constructing homes from entry level production
homes to ultra-luxury custom residences. Yet, we have over six hundred
Associate members ranging from service providers like banks and mortgage
companies to contractors like roofing companies and flooring providers. Over
the years, I have developed relationships with many of our Associate members
who offer products and services that have helped build my business. As an
Association, we truly are in this together. That’s what makes us great - it’s a
central networking tool to help businesses expand their product offerings and
grow stronger together. This month, GSABA is acknowledging a few Associate
members who give so much to the Association in terms of time, sponsorships,
Wayne Moravits ideas, and leadership. GSABA is truly a stronger organization because of the
President participation and support from our members and businesses from all corners
of our industry.
While I’d like to highlight all the Associate members I’ve come across in my years, I couldn’t possibly do everyone
justice. There are some Associate members, however, that continue to impress me with their commitment to
ensure the success of GSABA and everyone involved.
Dominick Alongi of Pest Shield Pest Control has been the backbone of the Association for many years. He is a
rock star during Membership Drives, sponsors many of our annual events, and has chaired the Parade of Homes
Committee for 10 years. He continues to serve on the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors. This
year, Dominick worked the Parade site every day from open to close. While he is very hands-on in his business, he
donated all his time for 10 days to ensure that the 2017 Parade of Homes was a success. Dominick isn’t above any
task , and his selfless efforts are the spirit of what makes our Association one of the best in the country.
Gary Javore of the Law Offices of Johnson, Christopher, Javore and Cochran is the biggest behind-the-scenes
force at GSABA. Gary has served as GSABA’s general counsel for a quarter of a century, assisting our Association
through all business relationships and issues. Gary received the Associate Legend Award in 1996. His real estate
and construction law services would ordinarily cost our Association thousands of dollars per year, but Gary
offers his legal expertise for little or no cost. He has worked with countless leadership teams to create a rock-solid
foundation on which GSABA has grown. His commitment to our Association is unmatched.
Scott Whisenant is the face of StrucSure Home Warranty. His organization remains a strong advocate and
supporter of GSABA, sponsoring numerous events and always participating with a warm smile and engaging
personality. Scott has invested years of energy and countless resources to make GSABA a strong Association. In
2017, Scott forged a new partnership with GSABA with the annual StrucSure Pro-Am Golf Tournament. I’ve never
met a more friendly, outgoing guy who will give you the shirt off his back. Associate members like Scott keep our
Association thriving.
Are you an Associate member who is trying to find their place in GSABA? Talk with any of these three gentlemen
and they can show you how to make our Association your home. Their hard work and dedication is a credit
upon themselves and the home building industry. Without our valued Associate members, GSABA would not
look the way it does today. For all our Associate members’ efforts, I simply want to say, Thank You.
