Celebrating CPS Energy’s

                                                            75 th Anniversary

I want to take this opportunity to brag on one of the Greater San Antonio
Builders Association’s (GSABA) Corporate Partners this month-CPS Energy.
CPS is celebrating their 75th anniversary of ownership by the City of San
Antonio. For 75 years they have served the citizens of our community by
providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric and gas services to the
                                             greater San Antonio area.
It was interesting to learn from GSABA Board member, Fred BeeBe,
Kristi Sutterfield that CPS Energy has been in existence since 1860! They have a very long
Executive Vice President and successful history in providing service to our community and their
commitment to the residential construction industry has never wavered.
Fred also shared that 75 years ago on October 24, 1942 every resident of San Antonio became investors
and direct benefactors of CPS Energy. The original purchase price in 1942 was $34 million. The return on each
resident’s investment has been $7 billion. That is quite impressive, and CPS continues to deliver reliable and
            affordable power.
We have been blessed to partner with CPS Energy and their leadership team for the past several years. They
have been a strong and supportive Corporate Partner with GSABA and continue to support our key events.
CPS is the Presenting Partner for our annual Parade of Homes, and the Summit Awards where we recognize the
accomplishments of GSABA’s Builder, Developer and Associate members. They are part of GSABA’s scattered
site Spring Tour of Homes, the San Antonio Housing Forecast and the Holiday Gala &Installation.
CPS Energy is celebrating 75 Years of EmPOWERing the City with a luncheon on their anniversary date,
Tuesday, October 24th, at the Marriott River Center. GSABA President Wayne Moravits along with members of
the 2017 Executive Committee will attend the luncheon to honor and thank CPS and their team members.
In case you didn’t know, CPS has several exciting programs under way to include the Mobile Support Center,
several energy efficiency events, and they provide much needed support to those in need with their Residential
Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP) program. You may not have heard about the REAP program but it serves
the elderly, handicapped, citizens who need critical care assistance, low income residents and those suffering
            from financial hardships.
The REAP program is a non-profit partnership between the City of San Antonio, Bexar County and CPS
Energy and they invest over $1 million dollars a year. It was interesting to learn that they also have a Veterans’
Discount Program that provides electric bill payment assistance for significantly disabled Veterans who have
served our country and sacrificed so much.
CPS CEO and President Paula Gold-Williams attended GSABA’s August Board meeting along with her Executive
Leadership Team and shared her vision and commitment to our industry and the citizens of the greater San
Antonio area . Ms. Gold-Williams inspired us all! On behalf of the GSABA leadership and membership, we want
to take this opportunity to thank CPS Energy and congratulate them on their 75th Anniversary.

                                                                                    Warm Regards,
