Assistance to the Authorities Cont.
• In Keion Francis v The State Crim App. No. 38 of
2015, the Court of Appeal took into account the
appellant’s admissions to the police and the fact that
he took the police to the scene of the crime.
• The Court said that, “The appellant] helped the police to
solve the offence in the broadest and most general sense
of that word, [and] some nominal discount only is in
order.”
• The court found that the appropriate nominal discount
attracted a reduction of one year to the starting point.
