1843 Eclectic Medical Institute first class graduated in 1833 at Worthington, OH. Class graduates each year, except 1839-43; last class graduated in 1929. Re-opened in 1931; last class graduated in 1939.

1844 The American Institute of Homeopathy
is established as the main authoritative body of homeopathic practitioners in the US “in response to the lack of national medical standards.” First national medical society of physicians in the US; claim conflicts with that for Reformed Medical Society.

Daniel David Palmer, DC (d. 1913) “The Discoverer” and founder of the profession of chiropractic as a distinct system. Magnetic healing to chiropractic. Vitalist approach emphasizing Innate intelligence, manipulation of subluxation; disrupted nerve flow and resulting “friction” as cause of most disease.
Kneipp Water-Cure Journal first issue published; circulation more than 50,000 by early 1850s.
