Cheri King (ND candidate, NCNM) becomes first official president of NMSA since its founding in 2005.
American Association of Naturopathic Midwives (AANM) founded in coordination with and as successor to the American College of Naturopathic Obstetrics (ACNO). Founders: E. Hoffman-Smith, Nora Tallman, CNM, ND, and Sara Wu, ND.
Institute for Naturopathic Medicine (INM) receives federal non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) corporation.
Canadian Naturopathic Coordinating Council (CNCC) formed by Iva Lloyd, ND, LAc, CAND Chair; includes representatives from all Canadian schools, provincial associations, and regulatory boards.

Cheri King becomes first elected president of NMSA; NMSA becomes official affiliate of the AANP. NMSA soon becomes participant in Naturopathic Coordinating Council, ACCAHC, IHPC, INM, AANP, and AMSA. By 2008, NMSA distinguishes itself as a vital element in future formation of the naturopathic profession. AANP President Dr. Lise Alschuler awards NMSA the 2008 AANP President’s Award. (D. Regulations that expand the scope of practice
of naturopathic medicine (legislation passed
in 2005 after being advanced from 1995 -
2005) implemented through Washington State Department of Health. Lead: K. Pournadeali. WANP President Doug Lewis, ND.
NPLEX integrates eight individual clinical examinations into the single Core Clinical Science Examination.
Ontario’s (Canada) licensing regulation is revised through Naturopathy Act, replacing Drugless Practitioners Act (1925); established a new regulatory college, called the College
of Naturopaths of Ontario. Transition council appointed to move regulation under domain of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) of Ontario. Proclaimed (officially completed and implemented) in 2015. Reversed efforts to deregulate the profession, which occurred from 1985-1990.
Vermont legislature passes law Subch 1. of Act 4088 d requiring all insurance companies to reimburse naturopathic physician services on
