Gifted to the Naturopathic Medicine Institute in 2017. Addresses how the painfully expensive mainstream health care delivery system, which converts disease into profit and focuses heavily on pharmaceutical drugs was developed; and how and why plural medical systems used successfully for thousands of years came to be called ‘alternative’ and confined to the margins of the ‘healthcare’ system. World Naturopathic Federation founded at the International Congress on Naturopathic Medicine in Paris (July). Interim Committee consists of Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, India, New Zealand, Spain, and the US. J. Wardle and T. Australian Registry of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH) standards recognized as a requirement for naturopathic program accreditation by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, the Australian government’s higher education regulator. XX
Craig Mehrmann (ND candidate, MSOM candidate, NUNM) becomes president of NMSA.
INM becomes fiscal agent for the Naturopathic Physicians Research Institute (NPRI), in preparation to reinstitute operations.
INM grant provides support to AANP to hire a States Coordinator staff person to accelerate successful state licensure efforts.
NMSA establishes eighth chapter at Bastyr University, California campus.
NMSA establishes ninth chapter at Universidad del Turabo.
NMSA generates a Student Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, coauthored by Executive Committee (C. Mehrmann, B. Krake, Brice Thompson, Jack Johnson, and S. Yirku).
NMSA hires Sue Yirku as first Executive Director as a result of intraorganizational effort initiated by past president, Eric Jorgenson, causing a pivotal shift in the organization’s productivity and level of engagement.
NMSA launches professionally redesigned organizational website with members-only social network.
LICENSURE, EXAMINATIONS, REGULATORY, AND LICENSING BOARDS
Proclamation of the Naturopathy Act in Ontario, Canada, means that all licensed naturopathic doctors in the province practice and are regulated henceforth under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), which governs all regulated health professions.
