Swing hitch

The American marine artist and author Clifford Warren Ashley is generally credited with

discovering this strong and secure hitch, although he did not name it. Since it will cope with a
load that swings like a pendulum, it acquired its name later. It is easily untied once the load is
  removed.

With the working end of the line, wrap a turn around the supporting rail from back to front, and to

the left of the standing part of the rope. Pass it diagonally down across the front, from top left to
bottom right (crossing over itself), then back up behind the rail once more (1). Next go down,
crossing over the diagonal knot part, and around behind the standing part (from right to left) to
emerge at the front once more. Finally, tuck the working end up and under in two places (2). Tug
on both the standing part and working end to tighten the resulting hitch (3).
