Running bowline







  The bowline is used to create a fixed loop that will not slide. When a situation arises where you

  need a loop that will slide, you can make a running bowline. This knot is used for snares and
  traps, as well as any time that a secure attachment is needed that will remain under a load.


  Start by making a standard bowline knot (see page 63). Then run the standing end through the
  main loop of the bowline (1). This enables the bowline to be moved up and down the rope (2).
