Inserting shapes in MS Word 2007
As we learnt in year 1, in Word 2007, the toolbars were replaced with a ribbon
which consists of tabs. Hence a change in how to insert shapes in Word 2007.
Therefore, to insert shapes follow these steps:
1. Select the Insert tab.
2. Click the Shape command.
3. Select a shape from the cascading menu. Your cursor is now a cross
shape.
4. Click and drag the mouse until the shape is the desired size you want.
5. Release the mouse button.
NB: In Word 2007, the canvas will not pop up when a shape is selected for you
to do the drawing in it. To display the canvas:
1. Select the Insert tab.
2. Click the Shape command.
3. Click on New Drawing Canvas from the cascading menu. The canvas
will pop up.
Resizing Shapes
What if you decide that you want a bigger or smaller shape? Just:
1. Click on the shape or object and small circles will appear on it.
2. Click on one of the small circles and drag it outwards (makes it bigger)
or inwards (makes it smaller) to change its size.
Rotating Shapes
You can also “rotate” a shape by clicking on the green circle, holding down the
button, and dragging it to the right or left.
