P. 26
Phase One: Assessment
1. You experience our on-line, comprehensive, validated assessments that describe your preferred
leadership & communication style, workplace motivators (values), and competencies (natural
talents.)
2. The coach will arrange for a personal session of 2 to 3 hours that focuses on debriefing your
assessment reports, your current issues of concern, and clearly defining your goals and
outcomes for our work together.
3. The coach will conduct up to eight (8) perceptual interviews to discover how your peers, clients,
board, immediate leader, and / or direct reports perceive your leadership, communication style,
and effectiveness. An optional spouse feedback perceptual interview is also available.
Phase Two: Aiming
During the personal session, we define and agree on specific goals for the three or six months that
we will be working together. Your desired outcomes will show behavior changes and / or skill
building, depending on your goals. You will define the value, the desired outcomes, and the
celebration and reward for achieving your goals.
Phase Three: Implementation and Accountability
1. Typically this phase entails a series of telephone and / or in person coaching sessions of
approximately 60-75 minutes each. Optional shadowing is available for pertinent situations
such as feedback on leading meetings and making presentations.
2. Sessions are scheduled approximately every two weeks during the three or six month coaching
process. You have accessibility to your coach during the entire coaching process by phone and
e-mail for quick coaching issues.
3. You are responsible for initiating the coaching telephone calls by calling the coach. Phone times
will be set as noted above, and based on our mutual schedules. If something comes up that
requires you to change dates, please call ahead as soon as you know of the change.
4. Specific action steps will be set at the end of each coaching session. We will start the next
session with a debriefing of those actions at the beginning of the next meeting.
5. We will use a number of tools and exercises to fully explore and achieve your desired outcomes.
Some of these tools may seem a bit unusual. These exercises are designed to be creative and
thought provoking in nature, so that your potential and goals can be fully realized.
6. During the coaching process, all communication with you is confidential. You may determine
that sharing your assessment information with your boss or sponsor would be helpful – that will
be your choice and together we will discuss the best ways to keep your boss or sponsor aware of
your progress.
7. At the end of three months, you will write a learning summary based on your initial objectives,
which is sent to your sponsor with a copy your coach.
Phase Four: Celebration and Success
At the end of our working journey, it is important to reflect and learn from the experience, so that the
lessons learned are applied continuously to the next adventure. Resilience and the ability to
embrace continual change are important characteristics in any high performing leader and
individual. During this phase, you will revisit and execute the celebration and reward criteria used in
the phase two: aiming phase.
