COCHIN, KERALA TChristmas Tree
he Cochin branch Christmas Tree Celebration was held on
23 December 2018 at the grounds of St John de Britto Anglo- Indian Boys’ High School. It was a day filled with love, laughter,
fun, games, tombola and home-cooked goodies enjoyed by all. The evening began with games conducted for children of different
age groups, followed by a welcome speech by branch President, Llewellyn de Rozario. A Christmas message was delivered by Vice President Denzil Bayer, followed by the lighting of the Advent Wreath candles. Santa was welcomed with enthusiastic cheers from the children, who eagerly received their gifts from Santa. The evening came to a close with carols by candlelight.
New Year’s Eve Ball
The Grand New Year’s Eve Ball was held on 31 December 2018 at the YWCA hall, which was well attended by around 200 members and non-members. Ladies were dressed in their best
attire and men in their formal suits. The New Year was ushered
in with the traditional song ‘Auld Lang Syne’. Valence Kingsellers was the DJ for the occasion, while Coral Godinho, our emcee for the evening, kept the crowd going with her exciting games and competitions. Homemade snacks and goodies were enjoyed by all. It was a great way to start the New Year.
Tribute to our Brave Soldiers
he Cochin branch conducted a candlelight procession in honour of the forty-four jawans who were martyred and who shed their blood for our country on 14 February 2019. The
procession commenced from the Santa Cruz Basilica at 7 pm and went around the streets of Fort Cochin and back to the Basilica. This procession was to create an awareness, especially in our youth, of the true spirit of patriotism.
