New Movie Palace is Nearby and Great
Yipppeee! The New Redstone Theater Complex,
5.5 miles up 521, across from Lowe’s, is now
open. They are owned and operated by Stone Theaters, headquartered in Charlotte, and they have six locations throughout the Carolinas with eighty-four screens. There are some distinct differences between this complex and surrounding AMC Theaters and Regal Theaters. To begin with, Redstone Theaters doesn’t offer pre-selected seats. You can purchase your ticket at a kiosk (credit card only) or from a person at the booth, and then pick out your seat once you’re in the theater. At the kiosk you can also pick up your online purchased ticket.
The new fourteen screen, 2,800 stadium seat theater is a welcome addition to our
Tina Conklin, manager at Redstone Theaters, pointed out their primary objective is customer service. Not all patrons like the pre-assigned seating and buying your tickets from a kiosk. She also pointed out that when AMC and Regal converted to recliner seats, they cut
the seat numbers in each theater almost in half. So, preassigned seats were almost mandatory. Redstone has comfortable rocking chairs, but not recliners, allowing more seats per theater. And the theaters are also bigger, so getting a good seat once you enter the theater still works, unless it’s opening night of a blockbuster. In
that case, just go early. Company President and CEO Herman Stone said, “Stone Theaters is extremely excited to bring this much needed and state-of-the-art facility to Indian Land and the surrounding communities.”
The fourteen screen complex features aproximately 2,800 stadium seats, extra large wall-to-wall screens, digital sound systems, rear window captioning (RWC) for the deaf and hearing impaired, and descriptive video service (DVS) for the blind and visually impaired.
Concessions include pizza by Pizzeria Uno, gourmet pretzels, hot dogs, nachos, all the usual movie snack and beverage fare, and a snappy lobby with lots of chairs
