Living @ Sun City Carolina Lakes would like more participation in the Club & Group News each month. Many clubs and groups do not have writers, but a good number of smartphone photographers are out there. Send us one of your great club action shots (not just heads or groups of folks) and give us a good caption. We’d love to share what your members are doing. Send your photos to...

ART IN THE CITY
Art in the City held their annual Spring Luncheon on April 18. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all, thanks to the hard work of Carolyn Coulter, Gail Nichols, and Norma Pellegrino. A prize for the best spring hat was won by Roxanne LaChance, with her exotic hat of feathers. Art in the City embraces all forms of art and holds its monthly meeting on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.

WOODWORKERS GUILD
After years of planning, construction is under way on the addition to the SCCL woodworking shop. Early on, the members of the SCCL WoodWorkers Guild realized that the growth of Sun City’s woodworking community would likely make the existing building a little short on space. They started a building fund and raised money through donations, craft sales, and raffles. Finally, this year the funds were sufficient, the SCCLCA approved the plans, the money was transferred to the association, a contractor was selected, and construction began. The footings were dug and then the rain came, making the site look more like a muddy swimming pool than a foundation. However, Wayne St Aubin pumped out the
water, the contractor persevered, and slowly but surely the building is nearing completion. A special thanks goes to Lyle Pyke as the lead man, for his many hours dedicated to this project.
