TECH TALK
We are back to the basics again for support. Of late I have been seeing more and more hardware failures and people not
backing up important data. Very concerning when family photos and important documents are lost. Now to go one step
further there are ways of retrieving this data but at an expense. Basic data retrieval will cost you around a couple of hundred
dollars. While a more extreme case where your drive has physical damage can cost you in the thousands. Now we are talking
a clean room setup that is dust free where they rebuild the drive to attain the files on the hard drive. If its important get into
the habit of backing up your data to an external device or a cloud-based service. This way you have your data if the need
arises. Trust me at some point you will. Not only that but take a look at your back-up devices and make sure they are working
as they should. Older external hard drives especially, the failure rate on these is going up. In the event you do have a drive
that is starting to act odd, get it looked at ASAP and do not hold off, the longer you wait the less chance you have of getting
your information off and protected. Now a lot save information to flash drives, good temporary solution but not long term.
These are designed to move data back and forth and yes to do fail. These are more subject to failure due to static electricity.
Take care of your devices and take note of any oddities.
As always if you have any questions please ask.
Until next time.
