INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S WEEK IN MARMORA A GREAT SUCCESS!
What a wonderful week of celebrating all the amazing women in our communities. It
kicked off with Mayor Jan O’Neill officially declaring March 1-8 as International
Women’s Week…because one day is not enough. This was hosted by the Caressant
Care Retirement home here in Marmora. It was such an honour to be able to hear
and share wonderful stories with the residents there.
Next came an evening of Wine, Women and Networking at Wings and Strings. Thank
you to Eva for organizing this event. It was a sold-out house complete with amazing
entertainment. A good time was had by all. Wellness Wednesday, held at the
Marmora Public Library each week, dedicated the month of March to women’s mind,
body and spirit health. Thanks to guest, Laurane Bennett of Converging Waters for
leading a drumming meditation.
Women in Wellness Expo braved the snowstorm and opened its doors to an awaiting
crowd. Everything from jewellery, hand made soaps, lavender products, craft kits,
honey, organic coffee and teas, crystals, intuitive readings, books, reflexology, Reiki,
Mitzvah and gluten free products were available. Door prizes were drawn by each of
the vendors and donations were presented to Three Oaks Women’s Shelter and The
Sexual Assault Centre. The day concluded with a heartfelt talk by the director of
Women in Wellness, Joyce Ioanou, RCRT, CAHP of Cedars Wellness, about her
personal journey through breast cancer. Laurane Bennet and Janice Chrysler
concluded the event with a few moments of meditation.
The Soul Sisters of Marmora did a talk via Zoom, “Crones talk about Embracing
Equity” which concluded the week’s events. Miss the talk? Check out facebook for
the link to the recording. Thank you to the other businesses and services who took
time to hang a purple and white bow, wore the colours or who took time to do
something special to acknowledge this week.
