RED DIRT SKINNERS REACH OUT TO THE COMMUNITY AND THEIR
FANS FOR SUPPORT WHILE LONG COVID KEEPS THEM OFF STAGE.
Some of you will know Rob and Sarah Skinner as the Red Dirt Skinners and some of you
may know them as that crazy English couple that are always out walking or running
around town!
For those who don’t know them, The Red Dirt Skinners are an internationally recognized
duo who were invited by Canadian Immigration to become residents. They have lived in
Marmora for five years and recently moved their status from “permanent resident” to
“Canadian Citizens” having been sworn in in October 2022.
Many of you may have been at their album launch concert at the Stirling Festival Theatre
in 2021. The duo played an astonishing “welcome back” set after two years of covid-
enforced time off tour. They quickly began rescheduling their shows and things looked
to be returning to normal.
Unfortunately, in early August, Rob and Sarah caught covid and whilst Rob recovered
relatively quickly, Sarah is now struggling with long covid. With an elevated heart rate
and reduced lung capacity, the duo have received agonizing advice from the doctors that
Sarah must rest up and postpone all of their shows until Spring 2023 at the earliest.
From someone who could happily run a 10k and then perform on sax for two hours, Sarah is now struggling to take the
stairs in one go. Anyone who has seen Sarah play the sax will understand how she feels.
The duo pride themselves on being furiously independent full-time musicians and whilst this works perfectly for them
most of the time, it does mean that right now, they need our support.
Rob and Sarah have set up a Kickstarter campaign to support them through this crisis. They will be promoting a live album,
recorded last year, which they are releasing as physical copies only. This isn’t going to Amazon, Spotify and all the usual
places. This is a direct-to-fans album as a thank-you for their support.
The duo are also offering copies of their highly respected 7th album, Bear With Us, which reached Music News
International Magazine’s top 20 albums of 2021 alongside Adele, Taylor Swift and Paul Weller to name but a few. They are
also offering backstage passes and - for the musicians amongst you - a day in their recording studio.
Anyone who knows Rob and Sarah will know just how much they do to support the local music scene and this community.
Now it’s time for us to support them in return.
Please take a look at their Kickstarter campaign and pledge whatever you can. http://kck.st/3GoyVSP or

Marmora Public School
Ms. Bowen has reported that the book fair was spectacularly
successful, earning $1700 in rewards that will buy new books for
our school! She sends her thanks to everyone who supported the
fair, and is looking forward to hosting another book fair in the
Spring. Here's a few of the new books that will be hitting the
shelves in the Learning Commons very soon!
