LIFEGUARD RECOGNIZED FOR RESCUE IN MARMORA
WITH OPP COMMISSIONER’S CITATION
Members of the OPP gathered in
Kemptville on Wednesday for the East
Region Awards ceremony. One of the
honours involved a rescue situation in
Marmora, where Abigail Cassidy was
awarded a Commissioner's Citation for
lifesaving.
Cassidy was working as a lifeguard last August when she was
alerted to a person who had fallen out of a boat -- the man
sustained injuries and his clothing became entangled in the
motor. She went on to swim 80 metres through rough waters
to free the man and pull him back to shore.
