$36,300 ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION RESILIENT COMMUNITIES FUND GRANT FOR
LOCAL CURLING CLUB
Media Release October 18, 2022
Marmora, Ontario – In early 2022, the Marmora and Area Curling Club welcomed the good news that it received a
$36,300 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). This grant was used to procure
equipment to support COVID-19 precautions and procedures, including air purification and dishwashing equipment,
larger lounge tables, reupholstered lounge chair coverings, and additional curling equipment.
“Marmora and Lake Curling Club has a longstanding tradition of helping the community keep active and engaged. The
funding from this Ontario Trillium grant will help members of all ages to stay safe, stay active and have fun!” said Ric
Breese, MPP for Marmora and Area Curling Club.
Thanks to the grant, the Marmora and Area Curling Club was able to make improvements to equipment and air quality in
lounge area of the club, making it more resilient to airborne and surface contact particles.
"The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said Lin Walker, Events Director and
Past President of the Marmora and Area Curling Club. “Improvements in sanitization and air quality through equipment
and using easier to clean high contact surfaces will ensure continued direct benefit to the local community, contributing
to the health of our community for decades to come.”
The mission of the Marmora and Area Curling Club is to offer sustainable, affordable, and accessible curling and other
recreational activities in the Marmora area for all ages, while providing a welcoming sport and leisure facility for the
entire community. For more information on accessing the Club, please visit: www.marmoracurlingclub.com
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) mission is to build healthy and vibrant communities across Ontario. As an agency
of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, last year, OTF invested nearly $209M
into 2,042 community projects and partnerships, which included funding for the Government of Ontario’s Community
Building Fund. Since 2020, OTF has supported Ontario’s economic recovery by helping non-profit organizations rebuild
and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Visit otf.ca to learn more.
