HLA offers a most flexible schedule for its staff. Flexibility encourages productivity. Allowing staff to set their own schedules gives opportunity to work around their family, homeschooling and other needs.
There must be thought and courtesy to other staff and your team and there must be respect for HLA's needs. This is a privilege to our staff and is based on honor and trust. As with all privileges, it can be taken away. An abuse of this freedom will call for a more specific schedule and accountability.
HLA wants staff to be able to put family first as much as possible. Opportunities to go to the doctor with your child, see your child compete or enjoy a field trip with them are valued. Spending time with your family and celebrating special occasions with them is important.
HLA's primary concern is that work get done in a timely manner, that families needs are met through great customer service and that we have a happy family of HLA staff.
HLA's Administrative Offices are closed each year from December 25 through January 1 to allow staff to spend time with family and recharge for the start of a new year. Staff are paid for December 25 and January 1 and may use other PTO to cover the remainder of this week. PTO time off should be used to complete your regularly worked hours ("CAP") and not be paid out in addition to your regular work hours in most cases.
HOLIDAYS
HLA provides PTO for the following holidays:
New Year's Day
Good Friday Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving (2 days) Christmas Day
Other holidays throughout the year may be taken as unpaid time off. If a holiday falls on a weekend, it may be observed on the preceding Friday or the following
Monday.
VACATION "PTO Earned"
PTO Earned is more commonly known as Vacation time. It is designed to give employees time needed away from their everyday work schedule. In addition to vacation time, PTO Earned may be used for personal days, sick days, family sickness, family activities and extra holiday time. Both full-time and part-time staff are eligible for PTO Earned.
Part-time staff will receive a pro-rated amount based on the number of hours worked.
PTO Earned does not carryover and must be used by December 31 each year.
PTO Banked is different from PTO Earned and will carryover to the next year, PTO banked hours must be used by May 1. No more than forty (40) hours of PTO Banked may be carried into the new enrollment season.
All employees scheduled and generally working at least 20 hours per week are eligible for company-sponsored wellness benefits. New qualifying employees will be eligible for coverage on the first of the month following 90 days.
HLA currently offers 100% company-paid dental and vision insurance per employee, as well as Teladoc services for the employee and their family.
HLA offers a Section 125 Flexible Spending Account option which allows employees to contribute pre-tax dollars to pay for medical expenses and other approved OTC items. There are also options for group life and accident insurance available.
Health insurance coverage is not provided by HLA. Recommended options for health coverage include Samaritans Healthcare Ministries (www.samaritansministries.org) and Christian Healthcare Ministries (www.chministries.org)
HLA desires to assist our staff in this area and are hopeful to continue to provide more options.
