Students who have achieved above and beyond what is required of them, going the extra mile, and striving to be the best they can be, whether in one area of their lives or many. These students prove to us that the loftiest goals are attainable if we work hard, dream big, and reach for the stars.
On December 25, 1997, Sue Parkerson went home to be with the Lord. Sue was a phenomenal woman of God who left her legacy not only with her sons, David (President & Founder of HLA) and Tyler (HLA Director of Information & Technology) but also with the entire Memphis homeschooling community. She lived out her remaining days in this world helping homeschoolers and was instrumental in helping shape the Memphis-Area Home Education Association in its early days. After her death, MHEA set up a scholarship program to keep her memory alive and to continue her work in homeschooling. This scholarship is sponsored by HomeLife Academy but also receives donations from MHEA members. Any senior who is a member of MHEA can apply for this scholarship.
