Luke Plaisted is the son of Dennis and
Shabnam Plaisted of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has loved homeschooling and flourished under the flexibility that homeschooling offers. Luke has been able to pursue interests to a depth that would be very difficult to achieve in a traditional school setting. One of those pursuits is science, and in particular, Anatomy/Physiology. He has competed in the Science Olympiad for the past four years and dual enrolled in several science classes at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). Luke plans to double-major in biology and biochemistry at UTC where he has received the Chancellor’s Scholarship and the Grote Scholarship. After graduating, he plans to attend medical school.
Luke has many interests outside of school. He loves tennis and has been playing USTA tournaments since he was seven years old. He has enjoyed the many hours spent playing tennis each week with his dad and brother, Daniel. Luke also loves the great bard, Shakespeare and has participated in numerous Shakespeare productions over the past nine years. Recently, Luke has discovered a love for playing the tenor saxophone, which he hopes to continue during college. He has been in the Awana program for many years and will be receiving the Citation Award this year.
