Why should you be considered?
To be honest, I am no more or less worthy than any other student applying. I am applying for a scholarship to reduce my college debt. My father is retired from the military, and I grew up with three adopted brothers. I was born in Alabama; I have also lived in Hawaii, Wisconsin, and now Kentucky. I was homeschooled for the majority of my life; except for the five years, we lived in Wisconsin. Our family struggled during those years due to the economy, until my father was hired at Fort Knox as a civilian.
I was accepted to Lipscomb in TN, and WKU in KY. Despite the higher tuition costs; I have chosen Lipscomb. I plan to go for a degree in marketing. I’ve also applied for the honor’s college and desire to study abroad. My parents and I don’t know how we’re going to pay off my college debt. My mother would always say, “I will do what God wants as long as He keeps providing.” A friend of our family paid his way through college, and as he shared his story, he said God provided ‘little by little’. We are trusting that God will provide.
Indeed, I would be very grateful to receive a scholarship to reduce my college debt. My parents have made many sacrifices for my brothers and I; it’s never been easy for them with the challenges that come with a military life, adoption, or when my father became unemployed and lost all that he had saved for his retirement.
