Despite all the challenges we have faced together this year, 2020 has been another incredible year for manufacturing in Depuy Synthes Cork. Each and every Value Stream has had to adapt and explore different ways
of working together with some great achievements made along the way. This would not have been possible without the immense support from the
production associates onsite working together with the other support functions to make the plant a safer place to work in.
In 2020 from a people perspective, we hired 34 permanent associates. We have created 71 operations secondments.
Life goes on for our associates both inside and outside of work and many of our colleagues have become new parents and some have become
grandparents. Congratulations to all and hope you enjoy browsing through the photographs as much as I did!
From a manufacturing perspective we have achieved amazing results. From NPI launches to process improvements 2020 has been a really exciting year
for us. The following excerpts from the value streams puts it all into perspective – we have achieved so much and the pathway through 2021 looks bright.
Operations
POLY & 3D
2020 Key Achievements:
• Introduction of 4 new CNC Machines into the valuestream for Attune Inserts
• Bannister machine move to B2
• Integration of 3D into the Poly value stream
• Cleanroom re layout in B1 to meet demand with the introduction of
COVID-19 restrictions
• B@R started for Tib Tray and working on two other NPI’s – Cones
and Patellas.
• 3D value stream set up.

2020 People Development:
• Training and certification of 10 associates in 3D
• 2 new line facilitators developed
• Damien Waters working on CAM development project
• Billy Wright working with maintenance and Process eng team on
gantry project
• 2 new Team Leads developed – Nick Roberts and Luke O’Shea • Pat Drake supporting process engineering
Plans for 2021:
• CAM file development for Attune PS due for close early 2021 • B@R for Emphasys liners
• Plan to move cleanroom to B2
• New cleanline installed in B2 to be validated.
• 2 CNC machines to be validated for machining CRs
• 2 CNC machines to be validated for machining Bannister.
