On June 20, 2021, Father’s Day, 1st District tactical officers responded to a person shot inside the lobby of Club Quarters Hotel, located at 111 W. Adams St. Upon arrival, the officers observed a pregnant female lying on the lobby floor in a pool of blood.
The officers observed that the victim was in and out of consciousness and bleeding heavily as onlookers gasped and stared without offering her any assistance. The officers imme-
diately utilized their LEMART training. The victim was a rather large woman, and two officers were needed to apply a tourni- quet to stop the bleeding from her femoral artery. The officers continued to render aid to the victim, not knowing if the of- fender was still on scene.
EMS finally arrived to transport the victim to the hospital. The officers later learned that this shooting stemmed from an incident on the sixth floor of the hotel, which subsequently turned into an HBT incident.
It is with great appreciation that Chicago Lodge 7 presents the Life Saving Award to these officers.
