Holiday Happenings
Throughout December, Chicago Police Officers joined the ranks of Santa’s helpers in a variety of ways to bring a little joy to residents across the city.
Sometimes that meant dressing as an elf, playing chef for a community meal or spending a few hours shopping with youngsters. Still others took the season of giving to another level by visiting families in need to bring toys to children and everyday necessities to their parents.
Undoubtedly, there are other good deeds which go un- noticed – but not unappreciated – by many modest offi- cers who prefer to avoid the attention.
Here’s a small glimpse at some of the recent holiday happenings:
2nd District CAPS held a Senior Christmas Dinner which included a live band and a delicious spread of food to feed the gathered crowd.
As is tradition in the 17th District, o cers delivered toys to less-fortunate children and brought their fam- ilies needed household items while making the rounds on Christmas.
O cers in the 25th District adopted three classrooms at Hanson Park Ele- mentary School for a lunch that featured Santa, presents, elves and Christ- mas carols for the kids.
