 Cops and the Community
Aside from Halloween, October was best known this year in the City for some big-time sports moments — and some smaller ones. Whether supporting Chicago’s teams, helping keep fans safe or getting on the court themselves, officers played a role in all the fun and festivities.
It’s not just the pros out having fun. A 24th District community policing officer jumped into the action during the Fall Classic pickleball tournament at Warren Park.
As WNBA champions Chicago Sky paraded around downtown to celebrate their first title, Chicago Police Officers along the route got into the spirit, waving rally towels and cheer- ing on the champs.
  Chicago Marathon
Officers lined the entire 26-mile course for the Chicago Marathon’s return, including in the 15th District, where the scene lined up nicely for a photo of competi- tors as they crossed the 18-mile mark near Tay- lor and Throop streets.
Although the White Sox playoff run fell short, CPD officers kept a watchful eye when the series against the Houston Astros arrived on the South Side. A week earlier, the White Sox honored several of CPD’s heroes, including Officer Shontell Raven, who was wounded in a September shooting.
