Memorial roll call remembers Officer Eric Lee
Nineteen years and two days after Officer Eric D. Lee lost his life in the line of duty, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation brought together Lee’s relatives and his police family from the 7th District to pay tribute to him once more.
The memorial roll call, held at the Gold Star Families Memori-
al and Park, commemorated Lee’s sacrifice in August 2001 when he was shot while on a tactical assignment in Englewood. The nine-year CPD veteran and former Marine died of his injuries.
The sun-drenched event along the lakefront fulfilled once again the promise that no fallen officer will ever be forgotten.
