Officers in 009 and 018 are the life of 2-year-old’s birthday party

Members in the 9th District and the 18th District teamed up on Aug. 20 to bring a birthday party to 2-year-old Owen Buell, who was not able to have a celebration earlier in the month due to safety concerns caused by civil unrest.
Buell is currently receiving treatment at Lurie Children’s Hospital for stage 4 neuroblastoma, a cancer that forms in nerve tissue and can be found in the small adrenal glands on top of the kid- neys. His family resides at the Chicago
Ronald McDonald House to stay close to Owen during his treatment.
After a hammer was used to break the glass on the front of the Ronald McDon- ald House on Aug. 9, Buell’s family felt a birthday party wasn’t safe.
But members in the 9th and 18th dis- tricts worked together on Aug. 20 to bring Buell a CPD uniform cake, a stuffed ani- mal and other wrapped gifts. With the support of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, Buell received an unforget- table birthday party.
