Random work log
With the Department pressing forward with its vaccine portal, half of the field reps have been stationed at headquarters to ac- company officers through the process. That has left half of our of- fice to work the day-to-day issues of the Lodge. No doubt that the City/Department took advantage of the situation and purpose- ly implemented RDO cancellations, delay in retro pay, denial of 2020 “use or lose” days, increased discipline, etc.
The Department’s actions have also caused an increase in call volume. This has all set us back a couple of months. Despite the issues of the portal, RDO cancellations, retro pay concerns, pre- paring for the vaccine arbitration, preparing for discipline hear- ings, ordering attorneys for officers’ CR numbers and processing grievances, we’ve still fielded calls, texts and emails day to day to the best of our ability. I personally apologize if I have not immedi- ately responded to any single member’s concerns, but thank you for your understanding.
I’ve provided examples of my workweek in previous issues of the magazine. I’ve explained that all listed times are approximate, and members’ names and specificity of the topics are withheld for privacy. Some of these members’ issues aren’t immediately re- solved and are still ongoing. (Although the members’ names are not listed here, I have maintained a record in my work log.)
