Cops and the Community
With fall in full effect, Chicago Police Officers stayed active even as the days got shorter and community-based activities continued to adjust to COVID-19 limitations. That didn’t stop the meaningful engagement or the fun — it just looked a little different.

The district Tac Team partnered up with the Hug a Child, Make a Change organization for a pajama and food drive to benefit members of the com- munity. Residents turned out to receive the much-appreciated clothing and other items made available for those in need.
As part of schoolwide activities, a team of 15th District officers made a sur- prise visit to Michele Clark Magnet High School on Oct. 20 to celebrate Prin- cipal Appreciation Month with Principal Charles Anderson.
Fall weather isn’t all bad, which is why 7th District Officer Roderique Mc- Clain and other district officers have joined with seniors in the area to take walks through the neighborhood. The new tradition builds relationships while giving the seniors a chance to exercise.
Members of the Mass Transit Unit donned pink socks for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to honor one of their own — Officer Faith Dawson, who is a breast cancer survivor.
