Officer Stephen Boyd
Officers of the Month
On March 21 Police Of- ficer Stephen Boyd was returning home after work when an offender approached him. At this time, he put a gun against Boyd’s head and attempt- ed to rob him. When Boyd complied, a second gun-wielding offender approached and instruct- ed Boyd to remain in the car.
At this time, knowing that he faced a critical and dangerous life-and-death situation, Boyd exited his vehicle and engaged the offender who began beating him. The other offender screamed to his accomplice to shoot Boyd. At this time, Boyd was shot in the leg, but that severe injury did not stop him from returning fire, wounding the offender.
Although both offenders fled the scene, they were shortly apprehended and appropriately charged.
Due to the brave and valiant actions of Officer Boyd,
and with no thought of his own injury, a criminal intent on murdering a Chicago police officer was removed from the streets of our city.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge 7, presents Officer Stephen Boyd with our highest honor, the Valor Award. d
