As part of National Coffee with a Cop Day on Oct. 3, 7th District officers greeted their neighbors at the McDonald’s on South Ashland Avenue for conversa- tion and old-school community engagement.
Even if they couldn’t keep things dry, officers from around the city did their part to keep things calm and safe during the Chicago Marathon. A few officers even ran the 26.2- mile course through several neighborhoods in the rain.
With the message to “Pray for those who serve,” a shrine to police officers and firefighters was dedi- cated during a special service attended by many of Chicago’s finest at St. Florian’s Church on the city’s South Side in September.
